Did you know that Pablo Picasso<\/strong> spent almost three months in G\u00f3sol<\/strong>, in Bergued\u00e0, between May and August 1906? Experts agree<\/span><\/a> that this stay in G\u00f3sol brought about an inflection point in his artistic development, and that it would be in this little village, hidden in the Catalan Pyrenees, where the artist would take his first steps towards cubism. Pedratour invites you to discover this fascinating story with a unique hiking package that takes us to walk on Picasso\u2019s footsteps through the Pedraforca and the Cad\u00ed<\/strong>. The Picasso Way<\/strong> is a trail following the path the artist used to arrive in G\u00f3sol, in May 1906, and to leave town towards Paris 12 weeks later.<\/p>\n The full trail goes from Guardiola de Bergued\u00e0 <\/strong>to Bellver de Cerdanya<\/strong>, passing through G\u00f3sol, in a 5-days journey. For those who don\u2019t have 5 days off in a row, Pedratour offers a tasting of the\u00a0Picasso Way in a group and with a guide<\/strong><\/a> from the evening of April 23<\/strong> to April 25<\/strong>, following the trail Picasso took to go from Guardiola de Bergued\u00e0 \u2013where the train arrived, once upon a time\u2013 to G\u00f3sol.<\/p>\n That\u2019s our proposal to do the first part of the Picasso Way in a group and with a guide in April<\/strong>. 2 stages, from Guardiola de Bergued\u00e0 to Saldes, and from Saldes to G\u00f3sol, with a first night in Guardiola to meet the guide and the rest of the group.<\/p>\n We leave Guardiola de Bergued\u00e0<\/strong> towards Coll dels Fangassos, passing by the Romanesque monastery of Sant Lloren\u00e7 prop Bag\u00e0<\/strong> and some awesome crags. Then, we descend to the Saldes valley and we cross the river on a wooden bridge. Later, the trail ascends towards the Sant Juli\u00e0 de Freixens chapel. Higher up, we\u2019ll find the Pedraforca<\/strong>, who will escort us the rest of the trip (unless we do the complete route, in that case we\u2019ll only see it until we reach the Pas de Gosolans mountain pass). Under the imposing vigilance of the magical mountain, we head for Ma\u00e7aners, then for Saldes, where we\u2019ll spend the night.<\/p>\n From Saldes, the trail takes us to G\u00f3sol through the clayey crags of Coll de la Trapa<\/strong>. In this stage, we\u2019ll find ourselves in an amazing desertic landscape, resulting of the eroded clay outcrops. The spectacular colours of these badlands won\u2019t leave us indifferent, as they did not leave Picasso indifferent. The bright ochres and reds of Coll de la Trapa dominated the artist\u2019s palette during his stay, characterizing the paintings he did in G\u00f3sol.<\/p>\n Once in G\u00f3sol, we take you visit the Picasso Interpretation Centre<\/strong>. There, we\u2019ll see lithographs of the works he did in G\u00f3sol \u2013the original ones are scattered all around the world, it\u2019s the handicap of having such an internationally-renowned artist. In spring 2022, the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum in Madrid will gather the most relevant of these works in a<\/strong> great exhibition<\/a> <\/strong>on this trip that inspired Picasso so much. This exhibition on Picasso in G\u00f3sol<\/strong> is the culmination of a great research on the importance this 80 days in G\u00f3sol had for the artist\u2019s development and, by extension, for contemporary art history.<\/p>\n After spending 80 days in G\u00f3sol, the painter embarked on a journey back to Paris. However, before that he had to descend from G\u00f3sol \u2013which was very isolated by the time\u2013 to Cerdanya. Thus, he gave us a second part of the Picasso Way<\/strong>. From G\u00f3sol <\/strong>to Bellver de Cerdanya<\/strong>, in 2 more stages, we can keep following Picasso\u2019s footsteps in his departure from the Bergadan village.<\/p>\n As Picasso did in 1906, if we do the full trail, we leave G\u00f3sol through the Reapers\u2019 Trail, the path the people from G\u00f3sol used to go to Cerdanya for the reaping season. Passing by Cap de la Portella we reach El Collell<\/strong>, a hill which separates the Llobregat river\u2019s basin from the Segre\u2019s one. There, we leave the Pedraforca Massif to penetrate the Cad\u00ed mountain chain<\/strong>. We climb the Cad\u00ed through alpine meadows where we can enjoy the company of eagles and vultures and, with some luck, of chamois. Finally, we reach the stage\u2019s highest point at the Pas de Gosolans<\/strong> mountain pass, which connects the regions of Bergued\u00e0 and Cerdanya. As we cross the pass, we enter the impressive north slope of Cad\u00ed. From its lovely location at the bottom of the rocky slope, the Prat d\u2019Aguil\u00f3 mountain hut<\/strong>, where we\u2019ll spend the night, welcomes us.<\/p>\n To complete the route, we only must descend from Prat d\u2019Aguil\u00f3 to the Cerdanya valley. We\u2019ll pass through Tall\u00f3, where it\u2019s mandatory to admire the magnificent Romanesque church of Santa Maria de Tall\u00f3<\/strong>.
