Through owl pellet dissection, we’ll find out about the feeding habits of some of our contry’s nocturnal raptors.

We’ll start with an introductory talk about the biological and ecological traits of nocturnal birds of prey, and about many of their adaptations. We’ll find out about what an owl pellet is, and we’ll discover how it can give us a lot of valuable information, very important for different environmental studies.

Then, we’ll do some laboratory work: we’ll have the opportunity to dissect an owl pellet and, based on the bones we find in it, classify different species of micromammals. The obtained results will help us ask some questions regarding the nocturnal raptors habits and feeding preferences.
